Nicola Fabiano
NICOLA FABIANO has been a Lawyer since 1993 and is a Counsel of Italian High Courts and Civil Law Specialist. He founded the Studio Legale Fabiano in 1994 and now also in Rome (Italy).

Nicola follows the evolution of the Internet, paying particular attention to the legal issues of the Internet paradigms such as cloud computing and Internet of Things, working on the legal issues related to the Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in terms of compliance with law. Nicola is an expert in the filed of privacy and data protection and security becoming a recommended firm by Global Law Expert for ICT Security and Internet & E-commerce Law.

He is the President of the CINFOR (Centro per l’Informatica e l’Innovazione Forense – Centre for Informatics and Forensic Innovation) – a body of the Bar of Foggia; Nicola is also the IT person in charge at the Bar of Foggia. Nicola is Sector Director of the Italian Institute for Privacy (IIP-Istituto Italiano Privacy) and member of AIP (Associazione Informatici Professionisti – Association of Professional computer scientists).

Nicola is a frequent speaker on a variety of topics including privacy and e-privacy, e-signatures, registered electronic mail, Internet of Things, and other ICT law issues.

In 2010, he was recognized as a Privacy by Design (PbD) Ambassador by the Information & Privacy Commissioner of Ontario, Dr. Ann Cavoukian and he is still working on PbD. Nicola has been mentioned in the official in the official report on Privacy by Design presented at the 33rd International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners.

He has been member of the Advisory Board of the EU project BURBA on Internet of Things.
He is consultant within the EMG (External Member Group) of the EU project BUTLER on Internet of Things and on the same matter is a member of the advisory board of another European project that will start by 2013.

He has been a member of the ENISA Awareness Raising Community and enrolled in the official ENISA CEI (Call for Expressions of Interest) list of “Experts for identifying emerging and future risks posed by new ICTs” since 2009.

Nicola worked as external expert and advisor for ADICONSUM (Italian consumer association), as part of the Italian node of the European Safer Internet Programme, for the “EAST – Easy to Stop-it” project, running from January 2007 to December 2008 and for its follow-on, “EAST2,” running from January 2009 to December 2010. As well, with ADICONSUM, he acted as an advisor to the European project, “Youth Protection Roundtable” (YPRT). He was a member, on behalf of Italy, of the European Commission social networking task force (2008 – 2010).
