The ‘internet of things’ is one of the many buzzy phrases thrown around conferences and meeting rooms, often without a full understanding of what it is. In the context of construction, IoT predominantly refers to equipment that automatically sends data over a network, either for monitoring or to trigger actions by people or automated systems. While still a relatively new concept, the IoT is increasingly being used by companies to boost productivity, keep workers safe, and even curb the spread of the coronavirus.
