Katleen Gabriels works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium. Her research project, funded by the Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO), focuses on the ethical aspects of the Internet of Things and on the virtualization of moral relations. Specifically, she studies the notion of ‘quantified otherness’: the constant, remote tracking of the other’s data, either covertly or with informed consent. Katleen publishes in the research fields of computer ethics, media ethics, philosophy and ethics of technology, and philosophy of virtuality.
