Crispin Coombs: The impact of the internet of things on managing work.

Delphi study – Participant summary report

We live in a world where technological innovations regularly hit the headlines and their future socio-economic implications tend to be sensationalised. The ‘internet of things’ (IoT) represents one such technological development that is currently receiving much attention. A consideration of the implications of IoT for work, particularly the use of smart and mobile ICTs, is important as these technologies have the potential to transform the way work is monitored, managed and carried out. Research that emphasises collaboration between academic and industry stakeholder groups is therefore essential to both promote critical understanding and fully understand how such changes are evolving.
