Nik is a full-time Professor of Computer Science and Director of Distributed and Intelligent Systems (DISYS) research centre at University of Derby, UK. He also retains a part-time affiliation with the University of Bedfordshire, UK. His research exploits web-centric and distributed data systems; personalised data push; pub/sub mechanisms; clouds; inter-clouds; Internet of Things and their application in real-world settings such as creative industry and disaster management. He has a focus on context-aware systems, smart environments and optimisation on resource provisioning (efficient discovery and scheduling). Nik has completed several projects and involved in projects worth over £3m. He served as TCP member on over 100 occasions; chaired over 40 international conferences, tracks or workshops; edited 2 special issues; 8 books; 8 conference proceedings and he is the IJDST founding editor-in-chief. He has served as a keynote speaker 4 times and as seminar/guest speaker for over 20 times. Nik has published over 200 works and he has won 4 best paper awards (2009; 2009; 2012; 2013).
