Martin Pot: Council, hybridLiving and Designplatform Rotterdam organise a one-day conference on IoT vs. the home-environment
On Dec. 9th 2009, the first Council conference took place in Brussels; one of the workshops there was ‘Home-Sense’: the questions and themes on IoT vs. the home-environment. On April 9th, 2010, a smaller meeting took place in Rotterdam on the same subject. Now, 2 years after the initial conference an update is necessary. Technologies have developed; questions concerning implementation, privacy and experience have become more actual, information is accumulating and the focus is increasing. Acknowledgement that our build environment has a significant role in the further implementation is increasing; as is the growing awareness that a paradigm-shift is necessary, in building as well as in our concepts of privacy. Two years after Brussels Council, hybridLiving and Designplatform Rotterdam organise a one-day conference on Dec. 9th at V2, the Institute for the Unstable Media in Rotterdam; to provide an update on the situation, discuss matters and try to make progress in further developments.
