The urgency for still very progressively conscious people all over the world to engage/invade and influence these "third-space" surveillance and trend-setting communication technologies towards transformative democratic, and just life-sustaining "prosthesis" of our minds and spirits is pressing. I think it is through conscious, strategic engagement of critique and highly selective compromises that the marginalized of all sorts can redirect these inventions to life-giving, freedom-expanding, and wholesome material and spiritual development; a direction that must be taken since the "genie of already known knowledge" can't be "put back into the bottle."

Kristina Höök

Kristina Höök is Professor in Human-Machine Interaction at Department of Computer and Systems Sciences, Stockholm University/KTH since 2003. She also upholds a part-time employment at SICS. She started the Mobile Life centre in 2007 - a centre that has now grown into being 50 researchers, working in close contact with industrial partners such as Microsoft Research, Ericsson, Nokia, TeliaSonera and Stockholm City. Her research focuses on bodily and emotional interaction. She has published in high-rated venues such as ACM SIGCHI, DIS, NordiCHI, ToCHI, IJHCS, and the Royal Society in the U.K.

Agustín Peláez

Agustín Peláez is the cofounder of Ubidots. He is also writing his Master's thesis at Grenoble Graduate School of Business. His research topic is the adoption and applications of Wireless Sensors Networks (WSN's) in the developing world, under the tutoring of Prof. Edward M. Roche, Ph.D. from Columbia University - New York.

Prior to founding Ubidots, Agustin had taken part in the development of a health monitoring software for EADS Astrium (developed for ESA and DLR), where he discovered his passion for remote sensing applications. He had also developed a linux-based call simulator for ND SatCom while studying at Münster University of Applied Sciences.

An IoT evangelizer and active contributor to the startup scene in Latin America, he has submitted articles about regional innovation, urban informatics and entrepreneurship to a number of newspapers and blogs.

Denis Jaromil Roio

Denis Roio, aka Jaromil, is a nomadic developer and media artist inspired by the Free Software and Free Speech movements. Since the year 2000 he is a public figure among the dyne.org hackers, his creations are recommended by the FSF and redistributed by several GNU/Linux operating systems worldwide. Since 2005 he leads R&D activities for the NIMk in Amsterdam, publishing software for media creativity and contributing to theoretical discourses. In 2009 he has been awarded the Vilem Flusser Theory Award and is now studying for a PhD at the Planetary Collegium (M-Node) of the University of Plymouth, under supervision of professor Antonio Caronia.
