The 5th Annual IIDA/Metropolis Smart Environment Awards: PURPOSE: To recognize individuals and collaborative teams creating excellent, leading edge interior environments. WHO SHOULD ENTER: Interior Design and Architecture professionals and teams practicing legally in their jurisdictions. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:Projects must have been completed after April 2009 (and not previously published).

Paola Di Maio

A system scientist and engineer, Paola worked as a London based science and technology correspondent for some years, before becoming a full time lecturer and researcher in 2005. In 2009 she published a monography 'Networks of Things and People', and is currently working on 'Sensor Enabled Networks for Knowledge Sharing'. She speaks fluently 4 European languages, publishes regularly in technical and scientific journals, gives talks lectures and seminars worldwide, and works as expert specialising in information management and operational intelligence.

Jo Caudron

Jo Caudron is a digital entrepreneur and "internet ancien" in Belgium. He started his first digital agency in 1993 and has since then created over a dozen of companies related to digital innovation. He is currently active in Dear Media, a consulting company that advices on topics of digital strategy and (media) innovation in the field of social media, mobile, location based services and the IoT. His special interest goes out to how mobile devices will bridge the gap between your digital life (with access to online systems and your own social networks) and the physical world. He believes mobile devices will have the power to "link all things to the internet", without the necessity of these "things" to be actually connected themselves.

Victor Vina

Victor Vina is an interaction designer working on the intersection of design research, digital craft and open technologies. He has researched about networked objects (Royal College of Art, London), open systems to set up distributed wireless networks (Interaction Design Institute Ivrea), and more recently applications of Internet Zero for architectural applications (MIT CBA, Fab Lab Bcn). He is currently based half of the year in western countries (teaching) and the other half in emergent countries (learning).
